简介
Performing artist and writer LISA ZANE began her career as an actress in theatre, film and television in the mid 1980’s, then ten years ago she discovered a whole new audience as a singer. She began giving concerts at Les Deux Cafes in Los Angeles, then moved to New York in the late 90’s, where she was warmly welcomed with regular gigs at Joe’s Pub and the Cutting Room. Her style is best described as torch, and includes a repertoire of Spanish and French songs as well as many obscure and beloved American standards. As a composer and lyricist, Lisa turns out a variety of American genres, laced with Latin and European influences. Lisa made her first record in 2004, which she produced with internationally acclaimed Flamenco guitarist Romero. On this record, she is supported by Romero’s magnificent guitar playing as well as upright bass, percussion and classical violin. The record, most commonly described as ‘cinematic’, offers a vast array of culture and musicality. Two years ago, Lisa chose Paris as a base, very happy with the level of musicianship and the savvy and appreciative public in Europe. Most recently, and with intense pleasure, Lisa created a theatre piece about the nature of saloon singing called, BARS, The Girl on the Piano, which she proudly premiered in her home town of Chicago this past fall. It’s an evolving project, built for any stage or indeed any country, on a subject dear to her heart.
