This is an album that is actually a part of a book, a huge work on music from the town Markaryd in the district of Småland in Sweden. The book "Krokiga låtar och rakryggade spelmän" is written by Jeanett and are published this year along with the CD. 331 pieces of music and lots of text (in swedish) about musicians in the past, in Markaryd. The music is from late 1700 to early 1900 except the last piece of music that is written by Jeanett. Jeanett has been working with the book collecting music for more than 10 years. She has been in contact with ancestors to the musicians and digging in music archives as well as newspaper archives. Along with the work she discovered the "Wimmerstedt"-collection with is forgotten music brought to life. This collection of almost 50 pieces of dance music is pieces that you can find in other collections but there were some pieces that is totally unknown! You can hear some tunes on this album. Some tracks on the album is played on instruments that was played and built by Bernhard Ljunggren - one of the great fiddlers mentioned in the book! At one track Bernhard Ljunggren himself is playing. A recording from Radiotjänst 1942. Jeanett is playing the second voice. :-) After that you can hear his daughter Ada talk about him! An excerpt of a longer interview made by Magnus Gustafsson years after Bernard Ljunggren was gone. She said that He played to the end and he was so happy with playing music! Anders Bredal is The Fiddler in Markaryd living in the mid 1801-1871. The music of Bredal has been written down by other younger fiddlers but he has the status of a rockstar in the past in Markaryd. He was tough to play by the Devil.(Näcken) One of the funny things about this work is that Jeanett spent months trying to find out were Bredal's house could be found. It turned out in the end that it was Jeanett's grandfathers house. (!) We've made one album before, available on cdbaby, called "Kraxasjön" released 2014 and it was praised in Sweden (5/5 in Dalarnas tidningar) and we have sold plenty of them.
