简介
Summer Love, like summer, can be hot, or warm, sometimes it rains. It can get sticky too. The days are longer and the nights shorter and the mornings crisp. Summer Lover celebrates all the glory of love as a season, and living it up in the summer of your life. These songs are at once intimate and vast, like the sun creeping over your naked shoulder while you lie on a towel, on the beach, contemplating a swim—or another stolen glance at the object of your affection. And just when you thought this record breaking heat couldn’t last, it turns into something else, an inner glow of recognition: you’ve found something special; or it found you. Whatever, you found each other. Australian singer-songwriter, Ben Mitchell builds on the success of his last independently released album (Chance To Love, 2015)—which had 17 tracks, each receiving radio play across Australia and in Ireland and London, with this new summer themed songwriting tour de force! From the opening track, Sixteen (a downtempo acoustic-electric pop love-saga) to the anthemic hooks of Ocean Road (Bonus Mix) Summer Lover travels the hot highway of infectious indie guitar pop (see New Summer Record, Summer Lover, If It's All I Do, You Get What You See) to the dusty back roads of alt-country Americana (Australiana?). Vintage reverb and tremelo guitar sounds, with classic country-blues double bass and haunting pedal steel guitar paint a mesmerizing landscape, drawing you in, ever closer to the unreachable and everchanging—yet srangely comforting and familiar—horizon. Bursting with melodies and harmonies songs like Smooth Sailing, Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!, Tropical Holiday, It's Time and Again & Again (whistling is back with pride) are impossible to get out of your head once heard. All this fun doesn't mean there ain't meaning here too though, and the heartfelt themes of mortal confrontation of Worth Loving and Until The Day I Die bring depth and lasting resonance to the 14 tracks that make up Summer Lover and will provide a guiding light through the darkest winter and a whole lotta love come Summer.
