简介

J.W. McClure is an award winning song writer and humorist. His cat song 'Blue' made the finals of this year's (7th Annual) International Acoustic Music Awards IAMA. Also, his recent release of 'Living Off Of My Friends' was a 2009 finalist the USA songwriting contest. J.W. was also twice a finalist in the early Washington D.C. Songwriter events (for three songs-satire, country, gospel). J.W.McClure is a veteran of the '60s coffee houses and was a regular opening act for nationally known performers at Washington D.C's infamous Childe Harold and the celebrated Cellar Door in the late '70's. J.W. McClure opened on those stages for Tom Paxton, Dave Van Ronk, Tom Rush, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The Drifters, Gatemouth Brown, Magpie, James Talley, Danny Gatton and Red Neck Jazz Explosion, Roy Bookbinder, Chris Smither and many others. Plus, to pay the bills he made a frenetic run of stand-up comedy and was a semi-finalist (9th two years in a row) in the regional Laugh-offs in Seattle. Ever a song-writer he currently records and plays solo and with his side kick, Thaddeus Spae. J.W.McClure has recordings with Sam Morgan, Zan McLeod, Ray StClair and Bill Ronstadt, Thaddeus Spae, Steve Schwartz, Stanislove, Alan Kausal, Marty Lepore, Tim Noah and other great friends. His love of humor and old jazz has influenced his delivery and writing. Now out of musical retirement he he plays traditional tunes, yodels Jimmie Rodgers and whistles with Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. His own songs are recognizable, catchy, with poetic and/or satirical lyrics. Thaddeus Spae, also an award winning song witer, collaborates here on arrangments using his multi-instrumental skills on guitar, trombone, tuba, banjo, harmonica and the lovely guitarron played as an upright jazz bass.
