Lead guitarist Michael Rodriguez marries fiery Latin-flavored guitar with flamenco, jazz and a touch of rock to produce yet another testament to The Brew’s incredibly electrifying style of Latin-Jazz, as shown on their third studio album. The sounds on "Latin Brew" are as clean, flowing, and downright gorgeous as anything digitally etched into recent memory. Rodriguez is astoundingly fluid on both his acoustic and electric instruments, offering melodic lines and solos that take flight at every turn. Michael's brothers Joe and Mark take care of percussion and bass duties, respectively, and Austin, Texas favorites Joel Guzman on keyboards and accordion, Brad Evilsizer on drums, and the late William Santiago on congas round out the regular lineup. Original compositions that The Brew's fans have grown to love through the course of the band's almost three decades of performing live in Austin include the rumba flamenco feel of "After the Rain" and the Cuban-style cha cha of "Vas a Ver". Though Latin Brew focuses mainly on the light-to-smooth-jazz sound the band has tweaked to perfection, there are a few surprises on this album, like the electric turn through the Eagles' "Hotel California."
