Holding on was is an original song written by Tasha Stones featuring Abstrakt. When I heard the beat for the song I was immediately convinced it was something I wanted to work on. It's this modern mix of Daft Punk, The Weeknd and Majid Jordan that made me want to work on it. What inspired the lyrics was a situation I found myself in. It came from liking a friend but fearing that if I confessed my feelings I would ruin the friendship or worse, get rejected. And I explore those emotions in the first verse. I sing about how things have got complicated but by the time I get to the hook I've realised I don't want to keep it in anymore and I should just tell him. It's better to try than not try at all. And so the song speaks about just that. Abstrakt's verse responds to it with optimism. The song is a pop rnb night time vibe.
