简介

Darkside (born Kevin Anderson) was raised in the streets of Baltimore City. Born amongst four other siblings, Darkside developed a love for music at the age of 2. Being of Jamaican decent, music was in his blood. "Ever since he could walk and talk, you would see him hanging around his father a lot", said his mother. "He would watch him spin records on his 12 technique turntables. From that moment, we knew music was his road to success". Darksides' father was a "disc jockey". So when he noticed his sons' desire to learn, he became his mentor. At the age of 8, his father began to teach him the basics. With the seed planted, Darkside wanted to become one of the youngest DJ's to ever set foot in Baltimore City. By 10 years of age, he knew how to turn on his father's entire music system from beginning to end in sequence. "I remember the summer of '96", Darkside said. My dad and I rode to Home Depot to purchase plywood, wood glue, nails, and a bunch of other things. At the time I was thinking, "What's all this for?" "To my surprise, it was so I could spend my entire summer break making speaker cases".(He laughs) Three summers later, looking at the final project he and his dad built, Darkside and his love for becoming a DJ grew more and more. Dreams becoming a reality. Darkside began to master his own craft watching older and more experienced DJ's in the city. This positioned him to DJ local house parties, even to DJ for his 8th grade graduation celebration. Jamaican clubs like "The Pan Yard" "The Fig Tree" and "Blue Caribbean" gave him a chance to pay tribute to his roots with his gift. Proudly being the youngest to ever do all those things, set a platform for Darkside to build his name as a DJ. With hip hop being the popular genre for music that he played for party goers piqued his interest. It became part of his daily activities. "I would hear him in the basement playing instrumental records" said his father. "He would be free styling to himself everyday after school". Darkside soon realized he had been blessed with yet another talent. By the age of 15, he began to develop the art of rhyming. To make a name for himself, he began to battle other local hip hop artist on the mean streets of Baltimore City. Childhood friends "Treyza Man" and "Parka Brova" also had a unique gift with words. Collaborating the talent would birth the music group "Sick Sense". The young group linked up with a well known up and coming hip hop artist/producer/ and engineer "Shaka Pitts". He then introduces them to some of the hottest underground hip hop events around town. "I remember the very first time going down the "5 Seasons" Darkside said. (5 Season's known for premiering local talent) "we had a hell of a performance". After the show, "Shaka Pitts" started up a cypher that will be remembered for years to come. Darkside shutdown the cypher. History was made, and the group known as "Sick Sense" made an immediate impact on Baltimore's hip hop music scene. From there, they would continue to grace the stage at almost every event associated with hip hop. Battle Rap started becoming a huge deal in the city. Like most states, one city creates a platform, and Baltimore was well on its way. In 2007, Baltimore's local radio station "92q Jams" started what they called "Tuesday Night Fights" hosted by "Squirrel Wyde". This is where local hip hop artist square off live on the radio. "Sick Sense" thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take things to the next level. Darkside would be the first of his Park Heights community and of his crew to reign as the champion of "Tuesday Night Fights". Noticing his undeniable talent, no one wanted to battle him for two months. Darkside went on to retire as champion of "Tuesday Night Fights". With "Sick Sense" notoriety, they released four mixtapes (Sick Sense Vol.1&2, Baltimore Gangstaz "Park Heights Radio" and Baltimore Gangstaz "Expendables"). With the love and support from his hometown, it was time to conquer another chapter for success. He informed his crew that he would move to Atlanta Georgia for more exposure. In 2010, he did just that. He took the 699 mile drive for the next journey in his young music career. Being a newcomer on the Atlanta scene, he knew he'd need to start a new fan base. He realized he had to do things differently this time. This move without a doubt, had to be his best move. Quickly adapting to his new environment, Darkside linked up with other local independent artist, producers, and entertainment companies. Even hooking up with platinum-selling artist such as "Yung Joc" and "Ying Yang Twins" to help guide him on his way. In the span of 4 years, Darkside would go on to release his debut Ep album entitled "Free Agent EP( True Stories). Now available in over 100 countries, over 750 retail stores, Tidal.com and Spotify for streaming. Darkside would also go on to hook up with an up and coming independent entertainment company (Fresh day Entertainment) and would now release his debut hit single "How I Live" ,under his very own label (Born Famous Entertainment), Available now on itunes, amazon and google play.
