Review by William Ruhlmann Time-Life Music's collection of Ferrante & Teicher's United Artists recordings is a well-chosen 24-track best-of including all five of the duo's Top 40 hits-"Theme From 'The Apartment,'" "Exodus," "Love Theme From 'One-Eyed Jacks,'" "Tonight," and "Midnight Cowboy"-plus tracks from their many popular albums of the early 1960s. Though the tracks range from 1960 to 1969, only three date from after 1963. The pianists apply their special charm to a range of material from standards like "My Funny Valentine" and "The Way You Look Tonight" to (then) contemporary songs like "Wives And Lovers" and "And I Love Her." The campy lounge appeal is as inescapable as it is enjoyable, and this is an ideal introduction. If you like it, there's more-lots more.
