Who is J Purk? J. Purk: Justin Rashad Perkins (born September 11, 1986), better known by his stage name J. Purk, is an American hip-hop recording artist, songwriter, and producer from the historic city of Selma, Alabama. J. Purk first debuted in 2010 on business partner Malcolm (M-See) Crittenden album “Fresh Off Pluto”. The following year in 2011, he appeared on Marcus (P-Air Live) West project entitled “Live Like This”. In 2012 the team produced their first compilation album entitled “MADE Affair”. The same year he appeared on production with Alabama artist JABO, mix-tape entitled “Point Me 2 The Purple Tree”. Purk also appeared on L. Bravo debut solo project entitled, “Vaguely Great & Highly Unlikely” in 2012. In 2013, Purk appeared on Marcus (P-Air Live) West album “Book of Live”. In 2014 Purk appeared on M-See project entitled “Malcom-X”. J. Purk has worked with many engineers, most consistently Bao Pham of “Mixology Recording Studio’s”, DJ Deadly of “WGMDJs” and “Beacon Hills Recording Studios” in El Paso, Texas. Early Life: Purk acquired a taste for music at a young age, learning how to play the saxophone by the age of 7. Later he developed an ear for piano and percussions. Purk started rapping at the age of 12, becoming serious about it in 2002 at the age of 14. Inspired mainly by old school, Purk developed a soulful approach to his lyrical rhymes. Purk developed a love for world play and story telling in his lyrics and continues to hone that style today. Purk, Malcolm (M-See) Crittenden, and Marcus (P-Air Live) West founded M.A.D.E Entertainment in 2007. Purk indicated on his reasoning for leaving home, “ I can identify with poverty, I can identify with crime, and I can identify with those who can’t seem to escape them because I’ve seen it. I’ve seen what it can do to families and communities. I believe there is always a way out, you just have to find yours. For some it’s sports, for some it’s hustling, but for me it was education. I had dreams, so I had to get it in order to escape, it was my way out” 2015: Pure Purk On January 29, 2015, Purk took to the Internet to announce that on Feburary 14, 2015 he would be debuting his first solo album entitled “Pure Purk”.
