Wendepunkt makes his triumphant return to iq140 with the creatively stunning and diverse 'Running EP.' His debut EP was the best-selling iq140 release of 2015, and was supported by UMEK, Barbuto, and more, so he has set a high bar for himself. We think that he has more than surpassed his debut, and this package contains four tracks that effortlessly demonstrate his understanding of the creation of modern, emotional techno with a retro feel. Opening is 'Running,' which, as the name implies, uses percussion and synth rhythms to preserve the constant feeling of movement. He utilizes one of his signature-style hooks to keep the dance floor under complete control. Next up is 'Dots,' another tune with that distinctive Wendepunkt vibe, which features a minimal beat and bassline coupled with a pair of warm, driving synth layers that create the feeling of a mix that is neither too empty nor too full. 'Darkness' changes things up a bit, and has more of a dark lead than a hook. Slight percussion stabs bubble in and out, making this tune very distinctive, and completing its eerie midnight vibe. 'Syndrom' is the perfect closing track, the most minimal of them all, with dissonant tribal hits and bass that carries a peculiarly powerful growling punch.
