简介

Chicago-based vocalist Colby Beserra and NYC pianist Dan Lipton met at Northwestern University back in the day. "The day" meaning the late '90s. They shared a love of good songs. In fact, they might even be called Song Worshippers. Yes. Because Beserra and Lipton are both solid songwriters in their own right. But they became decent songwriters by listening to and learning from their favorite artists. Jukebox Saloon is their salute back to the music that influenced them. Beserra and Lipton like to think that their collaboration is akin to Tony Bennett and Bill Evans. In the early '70s, the legendary vocalist and groundbreaking pianist recorded 2 albums of pop music. Bennett and Evans took songs from the recent past, stripped them down to their core, and reinterpreted them. For Jukebox Saloon, that meant diving into songs from the '70s, '80s and '90s. The result is similarly jazzed-out and loose, yet compelling in its simplicity. The Jukebox Saloon album was recorded at WBEZ studios in Chicago. WBEZ, the Windy City NPR station, was the perfect place for Beserra and Lipton to explore their collective songbook. Songs by Beck, Cowboy Junkies, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, John Hartford, Jellyfish, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and Alan Parsons Project made the album (legal publishing rights and all). Songs by Prince, Carole King, Tom Petty, Fiona Apple and even the Beastie Boys flesh out their live set. As Jukebox Saloon, Beserra and Lipton perform regularly at jazz clubs in NYC and Chicago. They are currently seeking distribution and representation.
