简介
Filet of Soul is a funky folk-rock band hailing from the Athens/Atlanta, GA area. The band has been touring the southeast since 1996 playing colleges, clubs, festivals and coffeehouses. The release of their debut full-length album, Incommunicado in late 1998 expanded the band’s fan base nationally through radio airplay, album sales and press coverage. The band was formed by brothers Adam and Greg Beadles in 1996. Adam fronts the band vocally, plays sax and harmonica. Greg is the principal songwriter for the band, plays guitar and adds lead and background vocals. Filet of Soul began to take on their distinctive sound when drummer Cornelius Freeman was added to the mix in late 1996. Bassist/guitarist/vocalist Randy Chester joined up in early 1998 to form the current lineup. His amazing guitar, bass and songwriting abilities make his influence heavy in the band's sound. In short order, Filet of Soul's Incommunicado received national recognition from critics including a nod as one of the top independent albums of the year by The Phantom Tollbooth. It led 7 Ball Magazine to label Filet of Soul one of the "Top 25 Indie Bands" in the country with they cry, "Somebody sign these guys". The eclectic blend of folk-rock, funk, jazz and pop coupled with insightful lyrics continues to make fans of those who hear it. Filet of Soul's 'Away' is featured on Sony's "Party of Five" first year DVD. The song 'Gravity' from Incommunicado was the opening track on the college/folk rock collection, The Awakening Compilation v. 2 released by Chapel Hill, NC's Awakening Records. Notes From Home, a compilation of some of the Southeast's best college music, includes Filet of Soul's 'Sebastian.' The band's 'Freight Train' was included on 7 Ball Magazine's GAS Collection v. 15. Several tracks from the album have been licensed for use on international cable and satellite television programs.
