In the first half of the record their are some very clear political undertones while Dezperado flexes his lyrical muscles. The first song though, is an audaciously poignant lyrical firestorm that shows Dezperado as no slouch on the mic even when quoting Ice Cube in the first bar. This is someone who shouldn't be looked over. Although breathy at times and not necessarily the sexiest voice in Hip Hop the message is clear and it doesn't really detract from the songs, it is simply the good kind of unique. The second half of the record is more introspective and you begin to feel like he is opening up to the audience. The last track is the shortest on the record and defiantly leaves you wanting more. Although this could be frustrating to some I see this as the fish-hook to greater things to come. At 15 minutes it is by no means an album, but it is truly a great EP by an Underground Emcee who, although may not be a household name defiantly should be, and one day could be. Get this and say you were one of the first supporters!
