简介
A singer and guitarist originally from Douglas, County Cork, Donie Carroll has long been a fixture on the New York Irish music scene. Many will remember him as the anchor, together with the late fiddle legend Andy McGann, of a long-running and internationally famous Saturday night music session at the former Kate Kearney’s bar, but Donie has been a regular at many other venues and is a stalwart with NYU’s own Washington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra. Donie has a great repertoire of old and new Irish songs that includes many Cork City favorites such as “The Night the Goat Broke Loose on Grand Parade” and “The Cottage by the Lee.” He is joined on this album by some of his many musical friends. I would sincerely like to thank the following musicians, Gabriel Donohue, Don Meade, Mattie Connolly, Liz Hanley, Joanie Madden, Kate Bowerman, Tony Horswill, Jimmy Crowley, Heather Martin Bixler, Daniel Neely, Joey Mullen, "Tuba Joe" Exley, Marian Makins and to Richard T. Cooke and Mick Curry for their wonderful songs. Finally, a word of thanks to Mick Moloney and the members of the Washington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra for inviting me to become a member of this splendid outfit and introducing me to such great friends.
