简介

'Heart Full of Soulphonics' is the follow up to The Soulphonics’ 2011 debut album 'The DYNAMIC SOUNDS of The Soulphonics'. The Soulphonics are back with a new logo and two new members. Joe Emery of Austin’s great band, The Ugly Beats, joined the band in 2012 and provides the bottom end on the bass guitar as well as backup vocals. Guitarist Lee Lazarine, of The Mullens and Sunday Drunks, also came on board in 2012, and adds both 6 and 12 string guitar work to the album. The new album features eleven original songs, written or co-written by lead vocalist Glen Worley. The band also covers Paul Collin’s great power pop song ‘That’s What Life Is All About’ and the album closes with The Soulphonics’ cover of The Bucaneer’s obscure classic ‘You’re Never Gonna Love Me Anymore’. Recorded on genuine magnetic tape (the way the gods intended) over the winter of 2013-14, the album reflects The Soulphonics love and respect for mid-60’s music that ruled the AM airwaves during that time: catchy melodies, short but great guitar leads, backup vocals that invite the listener to sing along, and no guitar noodling! There is also just a hint of pre-psychedelic guitar interplay in a couple of the songs reminiscent of such great bands as The Flamin’ Groovies. Album liner notes are provided by Evan ‘Muck’ Shore of Boston’s incredible 'Muck and the Mires' and the way cool cover art was done by Austin artist Mike Guerrero with the layout by Johnny Bartlett of San Francisco’s 'The Ogres'. A bit about the band: Guitarist/songwriter Glen Worley and drummer Kevin ‘The Skindriver’ Connolly were founding members of The Rattlecats of Austin (1979-1983) and, after that band broke up, went on to form The Rivals (1984 -1988) in which Reid Watson played bass. In 2007 Glen and Reid reunited to do a show at Austin’s Cherrywood Art Fair, and The Skindriver soon was banging his drums again with the two guitarists. The band did not have a bass player, but Reid did add bass tracks to their 2011 album mentioned above. At the end of 2011 Reid Watson decided to take a break from public performances, but does appear on the new album on several tracks adding guitar and backup vocal parts. Joe Emery and Lee Lazarine made their debut as Soulphonics at SXSW in 2012 and added their special musical talents to Heart Full of Soulphonics.
