Songs from the Witches Wood is a vocal retrospective collection spanning the early years for Kate's career. It contains songs from Hungry Moon, Dreams of Annwfn, Not Far from Here, The Time Between plus a few never released songs. The songs have been remixed and remastered and additional instrumentation has been added to give these historical tracks new dimension. The title refers to the densely wooded area at the back of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire where Kate played and got her start as a performer. The music industry, in it’s attempt to classify and categorize, has frequently compared Kate to Loreena McKennit, however this comparison does not really serve either of these talented women. While there are certainly similarities, the astute listener will quickly see that Kate’s music is quite distinctly her own vision.
