简介
A producer, composer, pianist, writer and singer. Dean Grant arrived in France at the age of eighteen. Seduced by the sound of the cicadas as Ulysses was by the sirens, the young man chose to settle in Avignon. He passionately immersed himself into French life and attended music theory classes with Michel Cassez, affectionately known as Gaston, former conductor to Claude François and former singer with Les compagnons de la Chanson. Then one summer day in Paris, he met Mick Lanaro, producer of Johnny Hallyday and Claude Nougaro, amongst others. The latter then introduces the young man to Cristal G., who will over time become his favourite writer. Utilising a subtle, balanced and nuanced sound, Dean Grant has created a unique musical universe, imbued with classicism and modernity, demanding yet accessible to all. “The French Recording Sessions" is an album which reflects deeply upon his wealth of experiences and unforgettable encounters. Dean Grant pays tribute to the great French singers from the past. He sings of love as only he has experienced it, with a warmth in his voice and a slight accent that adds a seductive depth to his voice. Whilst remaining faithful to his first love on the other side of the Atlantic: Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee and Julie London. Dean Grant elevates his music with a blend of jazz classics, and on occasion the sensuality of the Brazilian influenced bossa nova. For this distinguished, enchanting and elegant album, Dean Grant has surrounded himself with highly respected professionals, such as Bernard Arcadio, arranger of “Chambre avec vue" by Henri Salvador, Cristal G., Patrice Küng, Jan van Eerd, Jasper Staps and many others. The collaborative efforts of each of these with Dean Grant have resulted in a highly convincing album. “The French Recording Sessions" pays homage to the French influences and the illustrious voices that embody the sound, as well as the talent of an artist who has not yet finished surprising us.
