As a working musician, Tom has been performing both as a solo artist and as a well respected guitar player featuring in many band line ups along the road, but always continuing to write and work on his own songwriting craft. Tom's style of songwriting reflects his varied and wide interest in many genres of music. Last year Tom started playing most of the tracks featured on this album at live shows, with what would become the 'Out Of The Blue Band'. This four piece band features Ray Fean: Drums/Vocals, Fran Curry: Piano/Keyboards, Eoghan O Neill: Bass/Vocals, and Tom: Vocals, Electric and Acoustic guitars. Bass player Eoghan has played and recorded with some of the great Irish and international artists and bands over the years, from the iconic Christy Moore, to Moving Hearts, Mick Hanly and Chris Rea. Drummer Ray Fean also has a considerable back catalog of drum credits including "No Sweat" Tuesday Blue, and the great "Coolfin", with Donal Lunny. Add to this mix the wonderful piano and keyboard playing of Fran Curry, another musician with many album credits to his name, both as a player and as a producer in Ireland, and you get a band investing all of their experience and talent into these songs and in doing so producing an album of lasting quality. Tom was clear in what he wanted from this record. He wanted to allow the songs room to breath and not 'overproduce' or 'overindulge' in the studio, this has meant that the album has stayed as close as possible, (without losing any recording quality), to what the band produce in a live performance. Two singles taken from the album " Kicking Up Stones" and "The Only One For You" have already been released and have been extremely well received, gaining a lot of local radio play across Ireland. This is an artist that crosses many musical borders. You can hear reflected in Toms songs his Irish roots and also his influences from guitarists like, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and Rory Gallagher, from the songs and guitar style of Chuck Berry and songwriters such as John Prine, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, to the "punk" of English born Graham Parker and the soul and jazz of the great Van Morrison. They have all played a part in shaping Toms style both as a songwriter and a musician. This is his first 'official' album release. The album was recorded in Gaf Studios in County Tipperary, Ireland, and co produced by Tom and Eoghan O Neill. The front cover artwork was taken from a piece by Irish artist PJ O Connell, and all graphics and photos are by Martin Brady of Brady Graphics. Tom is already working towards the release of a follow up album.
