A relentless work-ethic is one of the most important attributes that is needed to succeed as an independent hip-hop artist. It's also something that comes natural for Florida rapper, Yako Staxx. Yako Staxx (formerly known as Yung A) began building his buzz by attending music conventions that was hosted throughout the state of Florida. Determined to not be just another local artist, Staxx consistently promoted his music outside of the Escambia County boundaries. His diverse talent and clever wordplay caught the attention of artists and producers who were already established, such as Evil G (credits: Ludacris, Monica, and Choppa Stylez), Da Hawg, and Papa Duck. By working with these three musicians, his buzz was solidified even more. The young artist developed an insatiable love for music around the age of five, which was influenced by church. He was a member of a program that taught him how to convey his emotions through poetry. "When I started turning poems into raps...people were amazed," said Staxx. His uncle recognized his potential early on and advised him to start networking with others. At age 12, Staxx hooked up with Evil G and was ready to debut his gift to the world by releasing an album. His primary musical influences include 2pac and Snoop. Not only is he a fan of their music but also their savvy business skills. They were some of the first rappers who realized that they could capitalize from other ventures also. Yako Staxx has recently released his new mixtape hosted by DJ Smallz, Yako Dinero (November 2013). This project is projected to take his career to the next level.
