Words from Dros (Producer, Composer) I began in hip-hop music; one of these guy’s who hates leaving the house but loves creating music, maybe I should of joined a local sports club or something...y’know, the kind of thing lames do to feel like they belong to something as if they are too good for the nihilistic hamster-wheel the rest of us begrudgingly run on. I made beats (that I thought were d**e at the time); collecting/listening to jazz, funk, soul and hearing the original samples behind the classic hip-hop records I loved so much made me think “I want to do that, I want to be able to make sh*t like those original songs”. So over an extensive period of time I taught myself how to. But why not a pure hip-hop record Dros? Why did you make a jazz/funk fusion album? Well, it’s simple really; I wanted to ensure I made a project that no one would bother listening to - I love failing and can’t get enough of the electric-rush I get when I’m staring into the abysmal void of nothingness. But all good-natured jesting aside - there will always be hip-hop ingrained in my music, it rears it’s ugly head as a subtle shadow of attitude throughout this album. Along with the aforementioned jazz, funk and hip-hop - the album contains elements of soul and p-funk and 70’s soundtrack sounds - almost serving as a love letter to these genres at times. Everyone is so arty now, everything is so over-produced and self-indulgent. I really just wanted to make something special that sounded cool. Speaking of being arty and self-indulgent - I created the artwork myself so that it would stand out and reflect the title; I guess the album name/art is my idea of an alter-ego, a mask or a alternate persona to hide behind, a character that lends me the bravado and confidence to flex my jazz hands unabashedly (the jazz hands your mum knows about) and spaz out over records by. I hope you dig my album(or not), whatever, do what you like...That’s your prerogative. What am I gonna do? Put a gun to your head and make you like it? Live and live is what I say damn it!
