Meet Valentijn! When Brazilectro formation Zuco 103 discovered Valentijn he was barely in his twenties. He toured with them around the world, and later played in a succession of bands, from Lefties Soul Connection to Ruben Hein and from Giovanca to Steye, until the time came to go solo. Reaching back, drawing on inspiration from his early years, he created Cirque Valentin: a unique combination of artists on his particular wavelength developing their own music and performance. Having played about a hundred amazing gigs with Cirque around the country Valentijn is now ready to release his first album. On Pleasure Island (produced with Paul Willemsen - Beans ’n’ Factback, Lefties Soul Connection). Valentijn: “It’s a super cool record featuring eleven songs that convey our live energy perfectly. I got all my friends to sing and play for a ‘We Are The World’ effect. The album is brimming with musical talent over and above the sublimely gifted band, including master percussionists Jos de Haas (New Cool Collective), Claus Tofft (Zuco 103) and Steven Brezet (KOFFIE). Other instruments include steel drums, marimba and washboard, adding a fresh Afro/Caribbean beach vibe to the mean hiphop beat.
