This project took five years in the making (2008-2013) and throughout its creation I’ve been through many of trials and tribulations. I simply wanted to construct a soundtrack to my everyday life but one that was original. So I made musical compositions that came from my own thought process and labor. I wanted to make the kind of tunes that I liked, was influenced by, and inspired from, but unique to me sonically. Whether it was hip-hop, r &b, reggae, rock, techno, pop, dance, house, classical, whatever; I wanted to create songs that were my own version of those genres. In doing so I shaped this project, OFromDaBlockGSNY (Block Radio 4-20 AmsterDamn Jam!). Every song has a rich history in its formation and you feel the energy from each and every track. Every artist, producer, and beat was specifically chosen to generate the greatest sonic sounds I could possibly craft. I tried my best to make the album as eclectic as imaginable. During the process of constructing the album, I liked so many songs I couldn’t pick which one would make the final cut. So I ended up with 54 songs and broke them down into a conceptual album with five different sequences, which would play as five different CDs (i.e. Disc One, Disc Two, Disc three, etc. ). Each disc would have its own diverse themes. The first disc “Turn On Ya Radio” serves as the introduction. The second disc “Turn Up Ya Radio” is the sequel to the first disc. Disc one and two are considered the setup for the album’s over all story arc; it introduces you to the main character O. From Da BLocK, his environment and his guest stars. The 3rd disc “Revolution, Evolution / Revelation, Elevation” has an entirely different theme. Disc three is half about the mental and emotional exploration of dealing with one’s environment and half about me just sonically experimenting and artistically advancing. Disc four “This Endz in AmsterDamn?” is thematically me just going on more misadventures (such as the topics explored in disc one and two) but with more sonically rich soundscapes, denser rhyme structures and more diverse flows. “This Endz in AmsterDamn?” also serves as the setup to climax of album that is disc five. “O. From Da BLocK and The DarK DarK Metropolis” the 5th disc of the album leitmotif is centered entirely around O. From Da BLocK himself (being that there are no features in this sequence of the album). Disc five is the culmination of the album and O. from Da Da BLocK’s artistic apex. This album consist of the first four sequences. I made this album for my own listening pleasure and I love the work very much. I have to say that I hope you enjoy listening to the project as much as I enjoyed creating it. And if you like this album you gonna love the next two. One will be EP of my self-produced instrumentals.
