The Kean University Star Search Award winner of “Best Hip-Hop/Rap Performance” Felicia Babalola, stage name, “Felyne” was born to Nigerian parents on March 3, 1984 in Providence, Rhode Island. Felicia’s stage name “Felyne” pertaining to the cat family, Felidae. Characteristics of this animal are, active, aggressive, vocal, and watchful and prefer to walk by itself. Felicia grew up singing in the church choir at the age of 13 years in Irvington, NJ, her current place of residence. Felyne graduated from Kean University, Union, NJ and intend to further her education to obtain a master’s degree in Social Work. Felyne’s aggressive, vocal, unique and watchful personality inspired her to create a unique and dynamic form of Hip Hop, namely “NajHip” “NajHip” is the fusion of Hip Hop and Nigerian music. Felyne experienced and observed the disconnect that many youths born of foreign parent but raised in America encountered with Hip Hop. As a result, she decided to do something about it, thus, the genesis of “NajHip”. The mission of “NajHip” is to help music lovers cope with personal life struggles through music. Felyne’s artistic talent consists of but is not limited to singing choreographed dancing, rapping and a unique, dynamic fashion sense. To date, Felyne has performed in various states such as NJ, NY, PA, ALT, etc. Felyne is a visionary , energetic, incomparable artist whose performance are breath taking, lyrics and “poetic” ethicnically inspired fashion sense is genius!
