I’m an independent artist and professional songwriter. I specialize in collaborating with recording artists and their producers and writing songs for film and television. I’m fortunate to have written 11 no.1 hits, twenty more hit singles, won numerous awards and had over one hundred cuts worldwide in a multitude of genres ranging from traditional country to electronic pop and EDM. I was born in Australia where I grew up in an unconventional, musical family. My dad, Ray, is a pioneer of indie music and has a dozen platinum album awards to his credit. My siblings, Lee and Tania, are icons of Australian country music. I began my career writing for my sister, Tania. My first number one was a song she released on her debut album which went on to win Album Of The Year and earn a platinum sales award. All these years later we still work closely together. I recorded my first album, Cypress Grove, when I was twenty two. It was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best New Pop Artist. I spent the first twenty years of my career in Sydney, Nashville, New York and Los Angeles. I got my start in the U.S working as a staff songwriter for the world’s biggest music publisher, Warner Chappell Music, where I worked with hit writers and producers such as Marv Green (Amazed), Steve Bogard, Aimee Mayo, Holly LaMar, Jeff Stevens and many others. I did a lot of work in Nashville as a demo singer as well. Working with the calibre of musicians who call Music City their home was an honour and superb education. My lengthy time in Los Angeles allowed me to branch out into all kinds of genres and work with another diverse range of talented collaborators including hit writer/producer Kevin Savigar (Rod Stewart), Jeff Silbar (The Wind Beneath My Wings), and film score composers such as Emmy winner Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies, Pirates Of The Caribbean). I’ve written theme songs to three TV shows, (Outback Adventures, Dark Prophet, Animal Extra), and my songs have played around the world in loads more shows, including Army Wives, Oprah, So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol and Jane The Virgin. I’ve written for and placed songs in numerous movies including Clint Eastwood’s Academy Award winning feature film American Sniper. In recent years I’ve worked closely with Red Bull and their High Performance Coaching department studying the mechanics of creativity and peak performance. It was a thrill, and one of the most unique projects I’ve ever worked on, when I led a songwriting, recording and performance workshop for Red Bull’s world class athletes and a troupe of Cirque Du Soleil performers as part of a cross disciplinary training intensive. When I’m not writing and recording songs I devote time to spiritual study. In recent years I’ve been analysing and practicing Taoism. The songs on my new record, The Art Of Being, are a lyrical amalgam of ideas and philosophies that resonate most with me. I thrive being in nature, swimming in the ocean and spending time with friends who see the good in the world. I love art in any medium that celebrates sensuality and spirituality and encourages us to live courageously. All of this informs and inspires my work.
