Much of the music on this album has been influenced by the Esbjorn Svensson Trio. 1. Denmark - This piece is a head based on Chick Corea's Spain. 2. Yungup - I wrote this as an exercise to see how successfully I could manage writing a melody that only contained three notes. 3. 2.9ghz - Many of my tunes start with a chord progression which I then search for a melody to place upon it. 4, Friday's Beckoning Seas - EST's Tuesday wonderland inspired this piece written in the odd time signature of 7/4. 5. Oxygen 8 - Births and deaths often inspire me to write and this piece is dedicated to a local legend Mary Rose who passed away in 2015. She was Irish and this piece makes good use of a pentatonic scale. 6. Inkling - Here is a birth inspired tune that I wrote long before the arrival of my 2nd grandson Zephyr. 7. Series IV - Another tune that emerged from an interesting chord progression found one day whilst noodling on the piano as I allowed myself a break from working through a Beethoven piano sonata probably. 8. Andy's Song - Another celebration of the life of a local legend Andy Ducker who passed away in 2011. It was inspired by EST's Seven Day's of Falling. 9. Twenty Ten - I originally found this terrific descending chord progression on the guitar and the tune really just emerges straight out of the chords. 10. Gladwrap - Any of you who know EST's music will be sure to also love their most famous and loved piece Goldwrap. This is the melody I came up with based on the same progression. There is a very brief reference to the original tune at the very end as it fades out if you listen very carefully.
