简介
Ken Nogan walked into a studio one day with some well-crafted songs and a 36-year-old Ovation Elite with Elixir strings. He put down a dozen or so songs to begin capturing his years of writing about the Christian life. Shortly thereafter, something unexpected started to happen. Musicians started listening, then, joining in with him on the tracks. A year later, and after meeting a dozen or so new musicians, he left the studio with a project that seemed like it was planned all along to introduce him to the Christian songwriting community. With a youthful line-up of musicians, Ken seems to move easily from pop, to soft rock, to worship songs as if he belongs in each genre. Throw in a few folk melodies in the Mumford and Sons style and you have an abundance of rich, fulfilling songs on this debut album. As a songwriter at heart, and one pursuing the things of God, listeners will quickly learn to love the way his songs provide unique glimpses into God's work and purposes in our lives. In this sense, he seems a little freer than most to offer lyrics that are both authentic and seasoned and his musical sensibilities (from Tomlin to Need to Breathe) will ensure broad appeal. As for this collection (Inside a Life), I’m Yours blends his acoustic, vocals, piano and cello is a pleasing, singer-songwriter style. P.S. to Be a Light presents a pop melody and an inspiring message about faith. Showers captures the essence of God’s hand in all of life - reminiscent of a Hillsong classic. God Our Savior introduces the deep tones of a Baby Grand with the bright and perfected vocals of the featured artist, Jacquelynn Ware. Crosswinds and Chasing Your Glory will make the car ride go faster (and better). And Summertime in Vermont will allow you to drop by a rocking folk wedding on a hillside in Vermont. Not a bad journey for a debut CD. Finally, someone needed to bring this “band” of newcomers together, and that ended up being an up-and-coming producer from Berklee’s College of Music in Boston, Daniel Carballal. Daniel’s touch with these songs is edgy and relevant while allowing the music to speak for itself. You will enjoy this CD like few others all the way to the hidden track (Treasure Chest) while hoping there is more to come from this songwriter and his vintage Ovation. And there is…
