After seven years, two cd's, two vinyl releases, numerous tracks on compilations and almost 100 live appearances, the Dutch funk band changed its name for trademark related reasons. "Holland's hardest rockin' jazzed-up funk band" really went for the jugular on the new album, including not only their trademark heavy Hammond organ groove but plundering their sizeable 70s vinyl collections for much more inspiration. Lift Off takes the listener on an exhilarating journey through spaced out jazz-funk, garage stompers and hints of boogie/disco. Longtime fans will be pleased with the inclusion of two live favorites: cover versions of the Counts' Jan Jan and Stevie Wonder's Jesus Children of America. Lift Off follows 2014's well-received Funkstamatic, which included the breakout single Koekwaus. BBC DJ Craig Charles handpicked the track for one of his legendary compilation albums. The album was supported by an often frantically energetic series of gigs that saw the band playing an aftershow for Kool & The Gang and jamming with members of Bootsy's Rubber Band. The Funkstamatics will be touring in support of Lift Off throughout 2016.
