First and foremost, an operatic persona in the lost operatic traditions of Simionato, Cossotto and Gorr, Markella Hatziano is one of the most versatile and highly-cultivated artists of our age, and, with her breathtaking, three-octave tessitura, is equally at ease in the dramatic mezzo and soprano roles of Verdi, Puccini and Berlioz (from Dalila to Didon, Eboli to Lady Macbeth, and Amneris to Turandot) as she is in the popular contemporary genres she dabbles in just for FUN. With a desire to incorporate her virtuosity into a pop context she has forged a successful alternate identity in the genre of Opera Trance. She may also be heard in some of the works of Vangelis, composer of Blade Runner and Chariot's of Fire, including the song Glorianna on the Direct album.
