简介
Chicagoland "STEPPERS" and "SMOOTH JAZZ LISTENERS" are still buzzing about the CD, "STEP THAT", by WAIF*. Every cut on the opus is "LEAD SONG" material and disc jockeys are playing each one with equal enthusiasm. It began with "Kill It" showing up on playlists of some popular DJs in the area and soon these silky-smooth, funky tracks were being played at all of the "stepper's sets" in the area where people in the mix go to party. Chicago boasts being the "stepping" capital of the world. Stepping is a smooth form of partner dancing, literally originating in Chicago, popularized in the 1970s and derived from the "bop" and the "walk", partner dances of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Jack McDuff, Ramsey Lewis, and Reginald McCants have been some of this artist's influences but being graced with the opportunity to grow up watching and listening to the late, great, Eddie Harris made it clear that creating and performing new, innovative music would be a part of his life. This CD is a "must have" for true music lovers, especially those of you who step, bop, or walk. If you don't groove on the dance floor, treat yourself to this "ear candy" while commuting, taking a drive, working out, or just chillin' (with or without that special someone).
