Jill Rose, a Boston girl who grew up in Boca Raton, Florida explains, “I started writing poetry when my life started changing around the time my parents got divorced back in 2003. Singing was always a passion, but I considered writing my escape. As I started growing up and dealing with heartache, reality began to sink in and I realized I wanted other people to be able to feel my words as I felt them.” Almost immediately, she bought a cheap microphone to plug into the computer and launched her first cover on YouTube. When high school talent shows came around, Rose placed second every time. She then quoted, “If you’re not first, you’re last”, and decided to opt out of talent shows. When Rose turned 18 and moved into her own apartment, she put a desk in her closet and downloaded a free music program to turn her poetry into beautiful music. The first song she finished was dedicated to her mother and her brother. “After seeing their reaction and wiping the tears from my mother’s eyes, I knew I had the ability to make people feel my lyrics.” As her views on YouTube grew, she decided to make a SoundCloud, and profiles on other various sites for her music to be heard. Rose did her first photo shoot and when the pictures were posted to social media, she was approached by friends who are music artists from 1st Take Studios in Boca Raton, FL. “You have the look, you have the voice, all you need is the right people to get you out there”, they told her. She’s never met such welcoming, caring, genuine people that just wanted to give credit where credit was due. They set her up in the studio so she could start perfecting her original songs, and signed her up for shows from Dade and Broward County to Palm Beach County. She has singles dropping soon from 1st Take Studios with titles such as “Take My Time”, “Unsaid” ft Rob Stunna, “360”, “No Luck”, and more. Unsigned and still recording covers and girl versions in her closet, her dreams are slowly turning into a reality.
