简介
A.Tone Da Priest in the past has stated his interest in bands like Nirvana, Sum 41, and Linkin Park, but kept it traditionally hip hop for the most part in his music. On October Sky however, it is these influences that shine through with each track offering distinct blends of live guitar, bass and occasional synth placements mixed with a wide variety of energetic drum beats. Even more impressive than the sound is the fact that the band sound you hear is all coming from one person. Marco A. Restrepo aka A.Tone Da Priest, had been playing the guitar for only a year when he began work on October Sky in late 2011. The first three songs completed, Disguise, King of Indecision and A is for Anarchy in that order are three of four tracks on the album to not feature a live bassline. Blue Sky the third song completed, and the first song made after purchasing a bass guitar, would go on to set the mood for the remainder of the album as well as inspiring the title. His style of play throughout is reminiscent of that Kurt Cobain in his utilitarian approach to making music. The overall tone of the album is that of acceptance and the understanding of a grander picture. Unlike his previous works, which sometimes would linger on the all too familiar lines of hip hop's hedonism, and promiscuity, October Sky takes a refreshing step forward, featuring songs about relevant feelings and ideals that have the potential to appeal to a much wider audience then what is currently being offered on much of mainstream radio. It is not only however A.Tone's distinct ability to craft songs that set his album apart from anything else currently being created by his contemporaries. Da Priest sharp intellect and wit seamlessly usher in endless amounts of simple fresh ideals that one could potentially live their lives to. October Sky features 22 tracks, which not only represent A.Tone Da Priest's October 22nd birthday, but also the October 22nd release date as well.
