Spiro’s Dance for Solo Oboe explorers the unique sound of the Oboes range and articulations. The use of Tremolos gives what some call a snake charming feel and the listener is unsure what will happen in the next. Composed By Tim Chatwood Performed By Eric Fassbender Recorded at Imirage Sound Lab in Sparks, Nevada Engineered, Mixed and Mastered By Tim Chatwood and Tom Gordon Tim Chatwood (ASCAP) is an American composer and percussionist. He received his Master’s in Music Composition from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has studied composition under Dr. James Winn, Dr. Jean-Paul Perrotte, Dr. Stephen Blumberg and recording arts under Tom Gordon. His works have been performed at such events as the Central Michigan University New Music Ensemble Concerts, University of Nevada, Reno Contemporary Music Ensemble Concerts, Society of Composers Inc. Region Conferences, NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival, and at Electronic Music Midwest. Tim is also an intern at Imirage Sound Lab Recording Studio in Sparks, Nevada. He resides in Reno, Nevada with his wife Yolanda and works for the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College where he teachers applied lessons and classes in music industry. He continues to compose new works in his studio and performs as a percussionist in local ensembles. Tim frequently guest lectures on music technology and composition to local schools. His latest project is a new music group called McCarran Circle where he plays percussion and electronics. In the spring of 2017 he released his first single, Spiro’s Dance for Solo Oboe and an EP titled In Route. Tim is proudly endorsed by Innovative Percussion Sticks/Mallets. TimChatwoodMusic@gmail.com www.TimChatwoodMusic.com Eric Fassbender Eric Fassbender teaches bassoon, oboe, sight-singing, and woodwind chamber music at the University of Nevada, Reno. Performing regularly on both bassoon and oboe, he appears with the Reno Philharmonic, the Reno Chamber Orchestra, Trio Reno, local casino orchestras, and various other orchestras and chamber ensembles in the area. He is also an active commissioner and performer of new works for double reeds; in 2015 he gave the world premiere of Jean-Paul Perrotte's Get Lost in a Dream for bassoon and tape. Mr. Fassbender is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, studying with Janis McKay. He received his Master of Music degree in Double Reed Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno, studying with Christin Schillinger, Lindsey Bartlett, and Andrea Lenz. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University, studying bassoon with Donald Grant. An accomplished accordionist, Mr. Fassbender has appeared with the Reno Philharmonic and as soloist with the Reno Pops Orchestra. As a saxophonist with the Wisconsin-based Don Peachey Band, he toured from 2003 to 2006 and appears on the 2004 album What Goes on Here? Mr. Fassbender lives in Reno with his wife Melanie, Director of Bands and Chorus at O'Brien STEM Academy. He performs on a Fox 601 bassoon and a kingwood Yamaha 841 oboe.
