Hope Nunnery and Steve Tarshis' playing and writing together grew out of a mutual love and respect for American roots music. Hope's first influences were rural South Carolina Southern Baptist church music that took a sharp turn for the juke joint. A few of her influences are Ralph Stanley, Blind Willie Johnson, Sister Vestal Goodman, Roscoe Holcomb, Hank Williams, Sr. and Johnny Cash. Steve has been involved with American roots music as a player, composer and educator for his entire adult life. He has been especially inspired by the Delta musicians, particularly Son House. Steve has worked with artists ranging from Bo Diddley to the Joffery Ballet, as composer, guitarist and or arranger.
