简介
Tim'm is a founding member of the pioneering and critically acclaimed iconoclast queer rap collective, Deep Dickollective (who produced 5 projects between 2000 and 2007). - "snapshots" is Tim'm's 5th solo project. The concept is based on a series of Instagram photos that serves as concept point for songwriting. - The project features interview interludes by Waddie G (worldwidewaddie.com) that contextualize the breadth and scope of Tim'm cultural impress as a Renaissance Man, without diminishing his specific contributions to the Hip-Hop landscape. His place in Hip-Hop generally is cemented by his inclusion in Hip-Hop documentaries like Byron Hurt's "Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes" and Mario Van Peebles' "Bring Your A-game" which, together, featured the likes of Fat Joe, Ice Cube, De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes, Lupe Fiasco, P Diddy, among others. - Though most of Tim'm's projects are concept albums, snapshots decidedly takes the approach of Hip-Hop as memoir of sorts, with a range of personal revelations "moms", "forgiven"; social justice topics "snapshots", "news", or "male", to lyrical acrobatics such as with "hot" or "sometimes". It wouldn't be a Tim'm project without the tracks denoting his sometimes elusive search for romantic stability, as is soulfully reflected in tracks like "cupid" or "lullaby". The project reflects production by a range of producers Tim'm has worked with over various solo projects-- the most prominent of which is his college comrade, Jason Carey (ENS), who produced for "Songs from Red Dirt" and who was part of a college Hip-Hop collective D.E.N. dating back to the early 90s. The track "positive" was originally created back in 2002, and given Tim'm's survival with AIDS, for more than a decade beyond, Jason and Tim'm felt that revisiting and re-recording the track would be all the more poignant as a celebration of resilience and pozitivity. The producers and emcees on the project are both straight and gay, East and West coast, and speak to Tim'm's influence as a progressive and conscious Hip-Hop artist.
