The Lonely Smoker - Magical Ocean E.P. Emerald and Doreen Recordings salutes the hot season with the arrival of The Lonely Smoker's "Magical Ocean"-E.P. Ricardo Medina from Torréon Mexico has already been introduced on "Emerald Dreams II" (EDR 11) via his Marvin Gay in the tropes-track "The Bay". Those who have missed this occasion should be prepared to listen to a perfect blend of percussive Chill- and Deep House. The formula Ricardo's productions are based on seems fairly simple, yet very effective: Nonchalant four-to-the-floor midtempo-grooves + ultra-deep baselines + levitating synth layers X soulful vocal samples : sun-drenched vibes = all you want to listen to on a warm summer night. The E.P. boasts three originals: "Away from me" resembles a jazzed-up Moby tune who has been recorded at Bahamas' Compass Studios during his holidays, "When the last time", a low-hung, zen-like groove that sets your mind at ease and the title track "Magical Ocean" which makes you wanna float on air forever. Included is an action-packed bunch of remixes to the first two originals which showcases primarily versions for the House-DJ. Remix duties are shared by Vijay & Sofia Zlatko, Kid Baba, Cravero, go nogo, Dixifisical and 7mirror.
