Blending abrasive and aggressive rhythms with subtle and beautiful melodies, The Striders are able to create uniquely crisp yet warm, lavishly adorned textures while still keeping their pop sensibility. The band was formed in 2003 by Jayson Munro with Dave Corsak on drums and Matt Stevens on second guitar, the band's lineup has evolved in dramatic ways since then. In the fall of that year the group lost Matt and gained Travus Palmer. It was at this point the bands unique sound began to develop. In early 2005 The Striders released their first LP titled "The Secret code from planning department". Barely utilizing distortion, the band created a dead milkmen-toned surf rock LP. An unvarnished concept pop album based around several characters; it is a bird’s eye view of suburban neighborhoods and of little problems, which we all face at one point and feel are so big at the time. The summer preceding the release of the album the band began their tri-state tour to promote the album. In 2006 The Striders lost a member, Jeremy Lazaro, and decided to take an indefinite hiatus. During their hiatus Jayson and Travus began to get restless and started to compile/writing music and lyrics to later release. In early 2007 Joe Andrews joined and the band began recording their most recent release "Between Scylla and Charybdis". The bloated seven song EP shows the dream pop quartet reaching in new directions. Extending to the margins the simple clean-toned guitar pop, The Striders move towards a more sonically expansive sound, with experimentation and elaborate textures, oozing energy from the edges, the group take each song to the next level; continuing their odyssean journey towards psychedelic dream pop ecstasy.
