简介
Zach Alwin is a native of Southern California. It’s there that he learned to work hard, study, know all the rules and then proceed to throw all of that sh*t out the window and follow his heart. Born to an Artist Mother and TV Producer/Composer father, music was big in his house and he took to his dads baby grand faster than his first steps. It wasn’t long before in an act of rebellion he shifted his focus from the piano to the guitar and was quickly considered a prodigy on the instrument by teachers and family. In elementary school through college Zach led, produced, recorded and played in bands ranging in styles from metal, funk, progressive rock and country. In his high school bands he toured in support of the Relay for Life Cancer foundation and won Battles of the Bands at the Roxy and Knitting Factory. The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in Long Beach became his new home after high school. He was accepted into the prestigious program run by Director, Dr Jon Talberg . He chose to study classical and jazz voice, styles which he had almost no experience, in a program full of soon to be opera stars. After four years at Bob Cole, he found himself thriving and carving his own path through the university. It was around this time that after years of playing in groups of musicians, he decided to go it alone and focus his creativity on a solo project. So he locked himself in his house, wrote fifty songs over a period of two months and came out when he felt like he had something to say. His first release “Arrived” in 2014 received some critical acclaim and won first place in the Indie International Song Writing Contest. Shortly after his first release, he started working with a new producer, Gene Shiveley (Rolling Stones, Weezer, P!nk). Gene quickly brought out of Zach his groovy R&B side that he had been raised on. After 2 years of development and musical collaborations with Jim Keltner (Bob Dylan, Traveling Wilbury’s, Aretha Franklin), Pee Wee Hill (Sly Stone), Fred Tacket (Little Feat), Jack Kelly (Donna Summer), James Salter (John Mayer), Phil Driscoll (You Are So Beautiful) and Dave Pensado (Beyoncé) he’s back and funky as ever. With a badass band of supporting musicians, he has created a unique sound that draws from the past while remaining edgy. His music ranges from feel-good party music with a sense of humor to soul-bearing love songs and anthems that make you want to run out of your house and sing to a stranger. His songwriting is simple and relate-able on the first listen, yet deep and profound on the second. Zach Alwin is up and coming now but with his goofy not-taking-himself-seriously personality, heart wrenching songs and unstoppable groove, it won’t be long before he’s on everyone’s radar.
