Kim decided that 2008 was her time to fulfill her deepest potential as a singer/songwriter. She has been writing songs since 1994 and has been trained by some of Nashville's top hit songwriters through NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) workshops over the years. She began writing lyrics but it was a major handicap since she always needed someone else to co-write the music in order to finish a song. So she took two years of guitar for songwriters and two years of piano, while soaking up musical knowledge and guitar skills by co-writing with others. Kim continued on her journey by attending workshops regularly and reading every book she could get her hands on about songwriting, writing music and the business. Kim's influences range from rock 'n' roll, to country, pop, Christian rock, jazz, folk and classical. Her biggest influence and songwriting mentor is Beth Nielsen Chapman, as well as, Diane Warren, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Cougar Mellencamp, Pat Benetar, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, Sara McLauchlin, Steven Curtis Chapman, David Phelps, Amy Grant, Dar Williams, Ani DiFranco, Amos Lee, as well as the numerous hit songwriters in Nashville, Hilary Lindsey, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Angela Kaset, Craig Wiseman, Barry Dean (who she attended two songcamps with and is so proud of his accomplishments), Tia Sellers, Marc D. Sanders, Amiee Mayo and the list goes on and on. Kim Yarson finally accepts her gift and is ready, willing and grateful to share it with the world now. She never wanted to be the singer of her own songs. She always felt she could leave that up to the professionals but life's circumstances changed all that. The CD was released on January 1, 2009 and is entitled "Satisfied" because this typifies exactly how she feels right now. She dedicates this CD to her husband, Paul and her children who support her 100% and whose support is paramount to her success. This rockin' country/pop artist is full of pep, desire and determination to have it all! However, to understand KIM YARSON one must look deeper into oneself. This very talented artist, after much soul searching and "self reflection," has set herself on a path to do what she feels "God has intended for me to do." Approximately fifteen years ago, she began a quest for musical knowledge. You see, Yarson always thought that she could write songs; she just felt that she needed to gain some insight and to draw on the expertise of others. So, in 1994, she began attending a series of songwriting seminars, "song camps" as they're called, to try and improve her ability. There she met Barbara Harley and Al Lind. The three struck up a working relationship that has been built into a lasting friendship to this day. The trio worked on numerous projects, writing songs for themselves, as well as others. It was at the urging of these friends/mentors that Kim began to write music for herself. Many years, and many trips to and from Nashville later, Yarson was entrenched in a settled lifestyle. She was attending school, had a husband, and two young sons. Her love of songwriting had never abated and one day she had a revelation: this was what she "needed" to be doing, her music as a full-time thing. After discussing it with her husband, she put school "on hold" and began work in 2008 on her first recording project. That project would eventually be turned into her first full-length CD entitled "SATISFIED." This ten-song effort features upbeat tunes that are very reflective of the album's title. "SATISFIED" isn't just the CDs title, it is exactly how Yarson feels. Feeling fortunate to have been "blessed" by so many supportive and fantastic people, she feels that she's heading in the proper direction with her life as well as her musical career. Yarson has taken her show on the road to many unique venues. She has done this by creating her own "Songwriters In The Round" concert series. In this concert series she travels from town to town, performing in libraries and coffee houses along with one or two other songwriters. On stage, they alternate between one another for an awesome musical effect of changing styles, vocal, and writing ability. This type of showcase event is also very family friendly. The majority of these shows begin early enough, so you can bring the kids out on a school night to enjoy the stories that go along with each number. Yarson isn't stopping there, though.
