He became popular in school forgoing up against other writer's to see who could deliver the bestlyrics in front of a crowd at lunch time. He moved back to Philadelphia after graduation in 2004 and continued to grow as an artist in the Mid-Atlantic music scene. In 2009, Marvin chaired the Philadelphia Leadership Society'sEntertainment Sub-Committee at the Community College of Philadelphia. The chair position allowed him to experience how to lead an entertainment committee to book bands, promote shows, and increase student participation in club activities. In 2010, Live Soul hosted one of the most successful open mics for Hip Hop / Rap in Philadelphia under the wing of Philadelphia Hip Hop legend, Larry Larr ("Larry,That's What They Call Me" and "Confused"). That same year he released his first single "Love Letter" produced by Kickin J Beats. The song caught the attention of Island Def Jam Recordings, who signed the song and provided Live Soul with a distribution deal through iHeartRadio. They exhibit a brand of high energy performance; incorporating live instrumentation (drums, keys, bass, guitar), b-boy / b-girl elements, powerful lyrics, and hip hop rhythm. Live Soul wants to follow in the foot steps of American soul singer James Brown (1933-2006) and singer, actor, producer, and director Frank Sinatra (1915-1998). Those men were able to successfully use the medium of music to entertain themasses. They also made smart business moves to keep control over theirlyrics and wealth.
