In an industry littered with repetition, Amyas displays an impressive range of styles and sensibilities--whether easy going lyrics on "Don’t Stop the Beat," to reflecting on the mysteries of the heart on "Loved," or speaking on abuse on "Dry Tears" (featuring Yamileh “Yammie” Marcellus) They team with other artists like Earl Elkins of 4:2 Five on "Same Road." Over militaristic drums and a minimalist groove, Mewszick makes brash declarations on how he overcame the struggles of a bad environment. "Rise" tackles American jingoism in a time of terror (the Virginia Tech Massacre), providing a much-needed dose of perseverance when facing tragedies.
