简介
"Rolling" is the first album by the Japanese female duo group, Streepz. Sah-Yah on vocal and Emj on key united during the pandemic in 2020 and started writing songs together between Japan and Boston remotely. They have been influenced by various genres of music but especially R&B, pop, funk, jazz, classical, etc and they are aiming to intervene these grooves and essences in J-pop. Sah-Yah, who also works as an actor trained her vocal techniques through her musical theater performances, and that brings deep middle range to brighter high range without effort. Emj has been working as a pianist for vocalists and composer for films, and these experiences bring unique and jazz-inspired chords to Streepz songs. Besides the three singles that they already released featuring YUKI KANESAKA aka monolog who has been helping Streepz's production since the beginning, Streepz included five more original songs in this album. Two of them (Irodori, and Kasumibare bonus track) were recorded as live band performances, arranged by Emj. They welcomed internationally acclaimed young jazz musicians, Kevin Scollins on guitar, Youngchae Jeong on bass, and Ivanna Cuesta on drums. They will release these performance videos as well. Unlike other songs, "Rain" is only for vocal and piano. With the minimized instrumental settings, the slow ballad in three feel and Sah-Yah's lyrics deliver a different perspective of Streepz's works. At the very beginning and in the middle of the album, there are two instrumental pieces (Introduction and Interlude) that were composed by Emj. Sah-Yah and Emj are also both big fans of films. The word "Rolling" is used when the film shoot starts, and they chose this word to represent Streepz's new "story" which is about to start with this album.
