The Melawmen Collective was formed in 2009, with a vision to create connections between Indigenous Peoples and others through stories, and music ~ bringing perspectives together through the creation of these collaborations with one another. The style has been described as a musical 'Non-re' because of the uniqueness of the sounds and how it draws from the styles of roots, rock, reggae, hip hop, with strong messages of the realizations we come to through the various stages of life and beyond.

The main collaborators of the collective that have been working together since 2007 are Meeka Morgan (Secwepemc/Nuu-Chah-Nulth), Rob Hall (Canadian), George Ignace ~ Geo aka The Voice, Indigenous Hip Hip Artist (Secwepemc/Cree), and others guest artists (such as Secwepemc/Nuu-Chah-Nulth youth Kiva Morgan-Hall). They build the themes together, create and record in the moment, then learn the tunes they enjoy the most for live performances with other musically talented friends and comrades. This album in particular is unique in that approach, that the larger collective decided which songs they wanted to learn for this album. The other collective comrades included on this live, off the floor recording at Alley's End Studio aka 'The Shack' in Ashcroft, BC, Canada are: J.R.
