The Man on the Moon EP features two guest producers, Ryder Butters and Shannon Hoover, for tracks "Losing You" and "The Forest Siren (Live)." The rest of the EP was recorded and produced entirely by Norris from the comfort of her home in Charleston, SC and her dorm room in Spartanburg, SC. The EP was also entirely written and performed by Norris, with the exception of "The Forest Siren (Live)," which features guest performers and friends Meg Swinney and Kaitlyn Kennedy on vocals.

The Man on the Moon has an array of influences, ranging from alternative rock, indie rock, blues, alternative folk, Americana, and alternative country.
