简介
Shane Turner is an award-winning San Francisco Bay Area composer, pianist, percussionist and singer. Shane specializes in jazz and contemporary compositions, and won a 2013 Student Downbeat Award for his original composition, "Upbeat". He performs regularly, accompanying the Panache vocal jazz ensembles on piano with whom he shares six Student Downbeat awards. He also performs solo at a variety of events. Says Renee Batti from The Almanac: "Shane Turner is a typical 12-yearold boy bursting with just-can’t-sit-still energy. Until, that is, he sits down at a piano. Then, the fidgety energy of a child turns to something else entirely: a creative force channeled into sound that belies the age of its creator. When that happens, the transformation is something to behold — and to hear." Noted composer and vocalist Juliet Green has said, "He has a musical sensibility and knowledge that most people have to work so hard at, and it just seems completely effortless, and natural to him. Shane doesn’t need written sheet music, just a lead sheet and a great ear. He is very creative and intuitive in his jazz playing..." "Smile" is Shane's first EP, comprised of four original tunes and two covers. "I'm Addicted" is a syncopated jazz-pop tune that will have you singing it hours later - it was one of the few songs selected to be reviewed in the Pop-Rock category at ASCAP EXPO in 2012. "When Will I Learn" is a thoughtful piano ballad with lyrics that belie the age of the composer. "I'm Gone" has much more of a rock influence, with a driving baseline and some killer guitar licks. "Upbeat" is much more of a traditional jazz instrumental tune, and won a Student Downbeat Award for composition. "Smile" is a cover of the Charlie Chaplin classic, and "My Romance" is a bonus track that was recorded live with the "A Touch Of Brass" big band in 2012.
