New Jerusalem was formed in Joplin Mo during the height of Christian Rock bands coming onto the scene. It was formed by Maria C Curry and John Goswick originally as a worship band for college services on the MSSU campus. Both were students there in the late 80s and early 90's and then added drummer Doug Wade, guitarist Shannon Workman, & bassist Randy Brasuell to fill out the sound and collaborate into what became a highly successful adventure of proclaiming their faith through music while having fun and working hard making waves in music. All members of the band at some time or another contributed to writing either music, lyrics, or both. They enjoyed a regional following, were heard on local radio stations, won competitions including 2nd place band in Wichita KS, opened for Steve Camp in concert in Pittsburg KS, and hosted many concerts in churches, camps, and retreats throughout the 4 state area of Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Included in their repertoire were all original songs written by band members. Each went on to continue musical endeavors in various bands, solo projects, graduate studies, music ministries, and lifelong music making. The tone of the music is upbeat, driven, and enjoyable while all lyrics state their allegiance, loyalty, and grateful offerings of praise to Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
