BIO Jean Mann was raised in a picture book brick house on Lake Whatcom in Bellingham, Washington, creatively stuffed into a 2+ bedroom house with 6 siblings, many cats, dogs, gerbils and a goat...your basic urban farm. Now based in Seattle in a historic cottage with just one small gray cat, she considers Seattle to be her second hometown and a little too big for this small-town girl. Before her guitar days began, Jean had taught herself on a funky old $65 purple piano her mom bought for the family on Valentine's day (1976), and when she moved out to pursue life, had to leave the bulky musical beast behind. After picking up the guitar (1996), she began plucking out songs, teaching herself with songbooks ala Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt etc, and wrote her first song. on 9/9/1999, the day her mother passed away. Only then did she truly begin to hear and realize her own voice and a passionate, soulful calling to the world of songwriting. "I've always been a believer that the heart and soul speak in simple languages, including the languages of music. Jean Mann proves this to be true by the brilliant design of her music." -Michael Allison, The Global Muse
