简介
Jiks newest release, \"Space\" which he wrote both lyrics and music for, is a song he dedicates to his late friend, Mark Severn with whom he grew up with in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada. Carefully penned and with deep reflections and imagery based on his personal beliefs, that we all belong, and return to Our Maker. The song is a mix of his youthful influence. Writers such as Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson, Beatles to name a few, pouring out his feelings of his personal loss, and a salute to his childhood friend. The song features several local (Kelowna, BC) well-know recording artists, Josh Evans (bass) of Redfish and Scott Gamble (drums) of Ten2Nine, and Aaron Stewart on vox. The results reflects a unique sound, that builds and takes you to another level of progressive rock much like his other songs, Innuendo and Who I want to be. The latter getting great reviews and generous local radio airplay. Jik wrote the music to \"Who I want to be\" and using his wifes lyrics created a rock-song that has been compared to \"those great 70s classic rock tunes\"....something you dont hear much anymore.... He also wrote Innuendo along with his former drummer from (Daysabovezero) writing lyrics. Its a song, Jik says, \"that I wanted to really mix interesting chords on my guitar with blending keys that start you off and take you somewhere, and when the song is over, you cant remember how it actually started....so you just want to hear it again.\" Im a huge fan of Pat Thrall, Automatic Man, Asia, Meatloaf and I wanted to emulate his dreamer style in the licks I worked out.....thats what I was feeling in the studio. I told the band I wanted a big stretched out word, just 1 word over the chorus....much like the Beatles were known for, you know?.......so I got it, they delivered and I was awe struck when I heard the 1st pre mastered version. Its certainly not a standard rock song with its many layered parts. Recently departing from Daysabovezero, Jik has returned to his roots of writing more material and teaming up with other musicians he has been looking to work with. He currently is working on the \"B\" side to Space. This ones called Zap, and from the scratch session tracks, it sounds like hes delivering a classic rocker! He says this ones upbeat, an anthem of sorts, that, well, zaps ya! Other songs hes written, and co-written such as Brand new eyes, Daysabovezero, and We salute our heroes can also be downloaded.....currently jik is working on new material...check his website out for updates at: www.jikmusic.com
