简介

Scott Kreitzer was raised in South Florida and started playing clarinet at the age of 12. At age 15 Scott discovered the tenor sax during which time he simultaneously met Ira Sullivan, who later became his mentor. Scott spent his younger years seeing Ira live in concert, and was elated when many years later he joined his band. At 19 years old, Scott had the experience and confidence to venture to New York City where he had an opportunity to study with Joe Lovano, Eddie Daniels and Bob Mintzer while continuing his education at William Paterson College. While studying he met Rufus Reid and Dave Samuels and Bill Stewart and at this time, with the help of his recording engineer David Baker, the record Kick 'n Off was conceived. Audiophile magazine awarded this cd "top 100 records to die for". A year later he was awarded a National Endowment of the Arts grant to study clarinet with Eddie Daniels and went on to win 1st place in the "Hennessy Jazz Search". Scott then recorded his second CD with Mike Stern and Bill Stewart and David Baker and won a Japanese "Swing Journal gold disc award ". Scott followed this album with a groove based record that featured two groove masters, Bernard Purdie on drums and Larry Goldings on organ. His songwriting efforts produced a #1 single "You've Changed" recorded by Andy Snitzer. He also wrote songs for the innovative group "Spyro Gyra", and was also an integral part of the horn section which was such a force in their music. In 2001, Scott then joined forces with Peter Cincotti. Since joining Peter's band, he has been creatively invigorated and has traveled the world sharing his sound, accompanying this amazing singer/songwriter. Peter has recorded three albums, the latest called "East of Angel Town from Warner Brothers and produced by the legendary David foster. Finally, Scott is releasing the long awaited "Fishing for Compliments", peppered with all the influences of his varied career. Here he is accompanied by a great rhythm section with Kenny Washington, David Finck, Andy Ezrin and his mentor, Ira Sullivan. Clearly his influences are heard throughout this CD filled with the emotive, full-bodied subtleties of Scott's sound , infused with the nuances of Clifford Brown, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins and Dexter Gordon. And, of course, there's Ira. The path to scott's music might have started in South Florida but it has taken him around the world and back. And, here in his home in New York City, his music is able to flourish. Enjoy listening, because, more than anything, he has always found his passion and soul in his playing.
