简介
Hip Hop artist "Professor " Lyrical to release new album: “THE COLLEGE PROJECT: Through the Eyes of Pupils” Boston, MA - Lyrical, a well-known Boston area emcee who recently made headlines as a highly respected artist and adjunct college professor, is set to debut his new album entitled “THE COLLEGE PROJECT: Through the Eyes of Pupils” which will release on Tuesday, April 14th. The album is the first of its kind—featuring over 20 Boston-area students from various colleges and across disciplines by engaging their musical talents on one project with their professor. The album’s engineer is Robie Rowland, Lyrical's former mathematics student and Audio Engineering major at New England Institute of Art (AI). After earning an A in Lyrical’s math course, Rowland convinced Lyrical he could work just as hard outside of the classroom and requested an internship with his professor to learn more about the entertainment industry and Hip Hop promotions and production. Lyrical approved and started Rowland’s apprenticeship last summer with the task of producing audio segments for Lyrical’s contributions to the "SPORTS RAP UP" on Boston's JAMN 94.5 FM. Lyrical was very pleased with Rowland's work ethic and soon offered him the chance to engineer an entire album. “I’d been thinking about this for a while. I wanted to get my student's involved in a real life project that provided hands-on experience and applied their talents and education into something where they could feel some form of ownership,” Lyrical explains. “Robie was the inspiration for me to finally put the project together. When I saw how motivated he was, I knew my other students would be just as eager for this kind of opportunity.” Every beat on the project is produced by a student, each guest rapper is a student, and every artist, graphic designer, photographer and even the project coordinator are college students Lyrical has taught as an adjunct professor here in Boston. “I see their talents, or hear about them every day,” says Lyrical. “Word travels quickly that their professor is a rapper, and that starts a conversation for them about their goals, their talents, and how to put them to work." Lyrical currently teaches as an adjunct professor at three colleges (Bay State College, New England Institute of Art “AI”, Lasell College), while also balancing a career as a Hip Hop artist and co-owner of the Mass Industry Committee, promoter of Hip Hop shows and concerts, and the completion of his Masters of Mathematics (degree from UMass-Lowell) with his final course at Harvard University this spring. He has taught classes ranging in topic from Statistics and Algebra to Event Planning and Musical Comedy, and has developed and taught a curriculum for Hip Hop Music & Culture.
