'Evergreen' is the debut release from Swedish/Eritrean singer-songwriter Miryam Solomon, recorded in collaboration with producer/guitarist/bassist Jean Berthon. For a first release this 5 track EP sounds surprisingly assured, with a very accessible, almost 'classic' feel, evoking artists as diverse as Minnie Riperton, Milton Nascimento & Meshell Ndegeocello, in it's attitude as much as anything, and yet never really straying close to anyone in particular that you've heard before... Miryam's vocal delivery is irresistibly sweet and lovely, but with a lyrical charm, and a touch of playful experimentation that Berthon's production encourages. It's very much an 'easy' collection to listen to, one that it's difficult to imagine anyone not liking, but as is very rare amongst records of that nature it also has depth to it that will repay repeated listens, and a uniqueness that will stand the test of time.
